Bio

My name is Tabitha Knight; I am a Portland based artist who graduated from Pacific Northwest College of Art with my BFA in the spring of 2011. I majored in General Fine Arts, which saturated me with a variety of technical skill sets. Renaissance artists and the idea of multiple pursuits and passions have always inspired me.

Tabasauras originated from a nickname that stuck, but ultimately grew into an alter ego. In 2010 my collaborator and I formed a performance art group called "We Buy Diamonds," which went on to be the first thesis of it's kind in the history of PNCA. Our group split up not long after graduation, but I found new collaborators to work with, leading to the curating and organizing of many events including "Out of Order: A living anthology." In this event I brought together poets, singers, dancers, performance artists and rappers to inspire the idea of collaboration and acceptance in the art community. In all of the communities I've been a part of over the years, I've always hated the "clickiness" that seems to come with it. My mission has always been to make people feel good about themselves, and to be open enough about my own struggles to create a safe space where people feel empowered to pursue their passion. Because if I can do it you can.

It has been some years since Tabasauras has perfomed. I sang and rapped then, but it was a much different climate in 2011 than it is now. I have since stepped away from live performances for the time being, but if you're curious to know what other projects I'm working on, or for access to past projects no longer available online, shoot me a message and say hi! I'm always up for a friendly conversation or an artistic collaboration.
